These Terms apply to the catalogue, downloads, author profiles, submissions, font suggestions, private messages, forum and reports. By using an account or submitting content, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Last updated: 28 August 2026.
What the service provides
Trusted Free Fonts is an independent directory and technical verification service. It records the source, font metadata, glyph coverage, file checks and licence evidence available for each listed family. It is not a font marketplace, payment processor, law firm or party to any donation or support transaction opened on an external website.
Verification reduces avoidable risk but cannot guarantee that a file, external page or rights claim will never change. Visitors must read the complete licence supplied with the exact font version before using it.
Font licences and downloads
Each font page gives a plain-language permission summary. If a summary and the complete licence differ, the complete licence controls. “Free” may mean demo use, personal use, commercial use without modification, or use and modification under an open licence. Downloading a file does not transfer copyright or create permissions that the rights holder did not grant.
- Do not remove copyright, licence or attribution information where the licence requires it.
- Do not redistribute, embed or modify a font unless the complete licence permits that act.
- Keep the licence file, source URL, font version and download date with important project records.
- Do not use a font or glyph to infringe intellectual-property, personality, privacy or other rights.
Submissions and suggestions
An account holder who uploads a font must have created it or hold the rights necessary to submit, license and publish it. The submitter is responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the file, description, links and declarations. A suggestion from a visitor identifies only an official source; it grants no rights and is never treated as proof that the suggester is the author.
Uploads remain in private quarantine while file integrity, format, metadata, glyphs, malware results, performance, provenance and licence evidence are checked. Ambiguous rights, unsafe files, unsupported terms, misleading identities and content that cannot be reviewed safely stop publication. Trusted Free Fonts may correct metadata, hold a record, request evidence, reject it or remove it later.
Author profiles, images and links
Public author details must be accurate and must not impersonate another person or organisation. A contributor may upload an image they are entitled to use as an avatar or logo. Do not upload a third party’s portrait, logo or protected material without permission. Official, support and donation links must lead to the author or an authorised service and may be removed when unsafe, deceptive or unrelated.
Forum, messages and prohibited content
Forum and private-message features are for factual discussion of fonts, files, licences, glyphs, installation and this website. Hate, racism, xenophobia, unlawful discrimination, threats, targeted harassment, impersonation, fraud, scams, malware, spam, sexual exploitation and other illegal or abusive content are prohibited. Messages are text-only, limited to 1,000 characters and normally remain available for up to 180 days.
Confirmed violations may lead to a warning, restriction or account suspension. Serious danger, illegality or deliberate abuse may justify immediate restriction. Content may also be preserved or disclosed where lawfully required.
Moderation and automated assistance
Deterministic tools and automated systems may help inspect files, compare metadata, detect abuse, prioritise reports and prepare review evidence. Automation does not make a final legal determination about disputed ownership or ambiguous cultural meaning. Material decisions remain reviewable by the operator, and an affected person may use the Report page or the contact email.
External services and author support
Links may open official author pages, repositories or external support providers. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. Money moves directly between the visitor, the provider and the author; Trusted Free Fonts does not collect, split, refund or account for it.
Reports, copyright and corrections
Anyone may report an incorrect licence, unsafe file, identity issue, illegal content, abusive message or technical problem through Report content or by email. Include the affected URL, the issue, your connection to the material and useful evidence. Knowingly false or abusive notices are prohibited. Confirmed problems may result in correction, restriction or removal, and relevant parties may be contacted where appropriate.
Availability and liability
The service is provided with reasonable care and may be changed, suspended or withdrawn for maintenance, security, legal compliance or operational reasons. To the fullest extent permitted by mandatory law, the operator is not liable for an external site, a user’s project decision, a rights holder’s changing terms or indirect loss caused by relying on a summary instead of the complete licence. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Applicable law and changes
Portuguese law and directly applicable European Union law govern the service, without removing mandatory consumer or data-protection rights available in another competent jurisdiction. Material changes will be dated on this page. Continued account use after a change means the revised Terms apply from their stated effective date.
